Former Police Chief Arrested for Alleged Ties to CJNG

Authorities have arrested Miguel Ángel Barrientos Domínguez, the former municipal police chief of Atotonilco El Alto, on suspicion of links to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The apprehension took place on the Arandas-La Barca highway, a significant route in the region.

At the time of his arrest, Barrientos Domínguez was reportedly wearing tactical clothing and carrying a police badge. This attire and insignia, combined with the alleged criminal affiliations, raised immediate concerns among law enforcement officials. He had reportedly left his position as municipal police chief in April.
