Former STAR Vice President Joins Sabah People's Gagasan Party

Datuk Abidin Madingkir, the former Vice President of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), has officially joined the Sabah People's Gagasan Party (Gagasan Rakyat). He was accompanied by 30 former STAR Paginatan division committee members when submitting his membership application.

Madingkir, who previously served as the Assemblyman for Paginatan, expressed his belief that Gagasan Rakyat is the ideal platform to advance local Sabah politics. He anticipates that over 3,000 STAR supporters from the Paginatan constituency will follow his lead, drawn to the party's focus on Sabah's interests and its people.

He explained that the decision to leave STAR and join Gagasan Rakyat followed careful consideration, aiming to continue his political journey with a party that prioritizes Sabah and its citizens. "Gagasan Rakyat carries the aspirations of the people of Sabah while strengthening political stability, which is the foundation for the state's development and progress," he stated.

Madingkir pledged his commitment to expanding Gagasan Rakyat's influence at the grassroots level and collaborating closely with the party leadership to ensure Sabah's development agenda benefits the people. Deputy President of Gagasan Rakyat, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, welcomed the move, stating that Abidin's entry would bolster the party's position as a local entity supporting the state's development and political stability, thereby broadening support for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
