Former Supreme Court Justice Maqueda receives National Journalism Academy's "Pluma de Honor" award

Dr. Juan Carlos Maqueda, a distinguished former member of Argentina's Supreme Court of Justice, was honored with the "Pluma de Honor" (Honorary Pen) award by the National Journalism Academy. The prestigious ceremony took place at the Jorge Luis Borges Hall of the National Library.

The event saw the presence of numerous notable figures from Argentina's legal and media sectors. Among those in attendance were Horacio Rosatti, the current president of the Supreme Court, and Carlos Rosenkrantz, its vice president. The National Journalism Academy was represented by its president, Joaquín Morales Solá, as well as other key members including Fernando Bravo, Norma Morandini, Jorge Fontevecchia, and Silvia Naishtat.

During the ceremony, a presentation highlighted Dr. Maqueda's career, including his participation in the 1994 National Constituent Assembly. His sisters, Liliana and Claudia Maqueda, traveled to be present for the occasion. The award itself, a silver pen, was presented in a special box.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Maqueda expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the critical importance of press freedom.
