Former UK PM Boris Johnson visits Colombian soccer club Atlético Nacional

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently visited the headquarters of Colombian soccer club Atlético Nacional in Guarne, near Medellín. During his trip to Colombia, Johnson also met with former President Iván Duque. The club shared images on social media platform X, showing the former UK leader wearing Atlético Nacional's green jersey. The club described the visit, noting that Johnson toured their facilities, which they say "holds the history, passion, and identity" of the fans. They added that Johnson "didn't leave without putting on the jersey and kicking the ball, letting himself be infected by a bit of that green passion." Former President Duque described Johnson as a "great friend and a person who has always shown deep affection for Colombia." He highlighted their shared causes, including environmental protection, safeguarding the Amazon, and defending freedom and democracy. Duque also recalled Johnson's support during his government in combating terrorism, international espionage, and promoting economic integration with the UK.
