Four dead, one critically injured in Puno highway crash

A head-on collision on the Juliaca-Calapuja highway in Peru's Puno region has claimed four lives and left one person critically injured. The accident occurred at night, involving an SUV and a truck.

Three individuals, two men and a woman, were traveling in the SUV. The force of the impact trapped them within the mangled vehicle, necessitating a two-hour operation by firefighters to recover their bodies. The fourth victim was a woman who was a passenger in the truck.

Her husband, who was driving the truck, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and remains in a delicate condition. Relatives of the deceased arrived at the scene hours after the incident to assist with identification. Meanwhile, police and public prosecutors are conducting investigations to determine the circumstances of the collision and assign responsibility.
