Four New Categories in Regional Government Achievement Awards Align with Asta Cita

The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs is revamping its Regional Government Achievement Awards for 2026, introducing four new assessment categories that directly align with President Prabowo Subianto's national development agenda and the 'Asta Cita' (eight priority missions).

While the first batch of awards focused on poverty alleviation, stunting reduction, entrepreneurship, job creation, and inflation control, the second batch shifts focus. The new criteria will evaluate regional governments on their performance in ensuring access to quality healthcare, improving citizens' access to education, successfully implementing the ambitious "3 Million Houses" program, and effectively managing waste to foster a clean and green environment.

In this second batch, the issue of waste and a clean environment is included in the assessment because President Prabowo pays attention to this.

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian highlighted that the inclusion of waste and environmental management stems from President Prabowo's keen attention to these issues. He recalled the President's directive during a national coordination meeting in February 2026, where Prabowo stressed the importance of national waste management and launched the "Gerakan Indonesia Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah (ASRI)" movement. The President even expressed his intention to convene regional heads to ensure cleaner cities and districts.

The "3 Million Houses" program, a key component of the Asta Cita, addresses President Prabowo's commitment to improving employment opportunities and promoting equitable economic development. The assessment in this area will gauge regional governments' dedication and effectiveness in providing adequate housing for their populations, linking it to broader goals of poverty eradication and economic fairness.
