Four-Star Prospect Carter Coleman Debuts for U18 Asian Cup Team, Takes Chinese Name Chen Carter

Taiwanese-American basketball player Carter Coleman, a highly anticipated four-star recruit according to ESPN, has arrived in Taiwan to join the U18 Asian Cup training camp. The 203 cm tall player is expected to be a key asset for the team, bolstering their overseas talent.

Coleman, whose mother is Taiwanese, recently secured a Taiwanese passport. His inclusion follows the successful integration of other overseas players like Dylan and David Hetherington into the national team. The Basketball Association has been actively expanding its talent pool, and Coleman was introduced to the team through scouts earlier this year. His aunt, Chen Jiabei, was also a former basketball player.

This marks Coleman's first visit to Taiwan, and he has reportedly adapted well to the training and living conditions. His mother shared that his teammates have been very supportive, and Coleman himself expressed a desire to learn Chinese better if he returns next year.

The U18 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad, India, from August 13 to 23. The Taiwanese team qualified for the main tournament after a successful run in the qualifiers held in Fukuoka, Japan.
