Four Venezuelans Will Play in the Libertadores and Sudamericana Round of 16

Four Venezuelan footballers are set to feature in the upcoming round of 16 matches in the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, the continent's premier club competitions. Despite no Venezuelan teams advancing past the group stages after the elimination of Caracas FC and UCV FC, players Yordan Osorio, Nahuel Ferarresi, Jefferson Savarino, and Yeferson Soteldo will carry the Venezuelan flag in these crucial stages.

Savarino and Soteldo are slated to play for Fluminense as they begin the round of 16 against Independiente Rivadavia. Their match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Venezuelan time at the Maracanã Stadium in Brazil. Both Fluminense and Independiente Rivadavia previously faced Deportivo La Guaira in the group stage of the Libertadores, with the Venezuelan club finishing last in their group.

In another Copa Libertadores fixture, Yordan Osorio will represent Colombian club Deportes Tolima against Ecuador's Independiente Del Valle. This match is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the Estadio Manuel Murillo Toro in Ibagué.

Meanwhile, in the Copa Sudamericana, Nahuel Ferraresi will play for Botafogo on August 13 at 8:30 p.m. The 2024 Copa Libertadores champions will face Peru's Cienciano at the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

Recent performances show Savarino and Soteldo were involved in Fluminense's last match, a 1-1 draw against Botafogo, where Soteldo started and played until the 79th minute, while Savarino came on as a substitute. Ferraresi also played the full 90 minutes in that game. Osorio was a starter in Deportes Tolima's recent 2-1 victory over Internacional de Bogotá, a result that placed his team third in Colombia's Torneo Finalización.
