Four Villages in Mangystau Region Voluntarily Give Up Alcohol

Residents and entrepreneurs in four villages within Kazakhstan's Mangystau region have voluntarily decided to cease the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages. This initiative, part of the "Aiqyn Natizhe" project, aims to enhance public safety and strengthen law and order in the affected communities.

The villages of Yeset, Tolep, Turysh, and Tazhen, collectively home to over 2,600 people, have embraced the project, supporting efforts to create a more prosperous and secure environment. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the voluntary refusal of alcohol is intended to prevent offenses, domestic violence, and crimes committed under the influence of alcohol.

Local residents report that life has become calmer in other villages that have previously adopted similar measures. In Beki village, where alcohol has not been sold for four years, residents note a decrease in crime, with young people increasingly engaging in sports. Family celebrations now feature traditional drinks like shubat and kumys instead of alcohol, reflecting a broader cultural shift towards healthier lifestyles.
