Franco Colapinto extends Alpine contract through 2027

Franco Colapinto, the Argentine Formula 1 driver, has secured his future with Alpine, extending his contract with the French team through the end of the 2027 season. He will continue to partner with French driver Pierre Gasly.

Colapinto's journey in Formula 1 began in 2024 with Williams, where he stepped in for Logan Sargeant in the final nine races of the season. Early in 2025, Alpine brought him on as a reserve driver, and he soon took over a full-time racing seat, replacing Jack Doohan.

Alpine announced their excitement in finalizing their driver pairing for the 2027 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season. "The 2026 season truly marked Franco's breakthrough," the team stated, referencing the 23-year-old Argentine's 7th-place finishes in Miami and Montreal, his best results to date in F1.

He currently sits 12th in the World Championship standings with 19 points, trailing his teammate Gasly, who has 44 points and is 10th.

Flavio Briatore, overseeing the team, praised Colapinto's development: "This year we have seen Franco truly grow and gain maturity to become an excellent driver. His results, especially in Miami and Montreal, have confirmed what I already knew: Franco fully belongs in Formula 1 and within this team."
