Friend Speaks About Argentine Mixologist Pablo Carrizo, Found Dead After Disappearing in Colombia

Pablo Emilio Carrizo, an Argentine mixologist reported missing in Colombia, was found dead after a traffic accident, ending a search that began when his relatives lost contact with him.

Carrizo had been in Medellín carrying out a consultancy for a hotel in El Poblado, a close friend said. The friend described him as “a leading figure in mixology, a creator and adviser to different brands,” including ONALAK ICE, a Colombian company that produces and distributes premium and artisanal ice for cocktails and haute cuisine. He also said Carrizo was one of the people who helped establish World Class in Colombia, a major mixology and cocktail competition.

Carrizo apparently left Medellín for Cartagena to visit his daughter. His disappearance was initially reported after he stopped communicating with her. “Since Aug. 19, we had no news of him and did not know that he had traveled, so he was initially reported missing,” the friend said.

Relatives learned on Sept. 3 that Carrizo had suffered a traffic accident on Aug. 19. The crash took place on the Caucasia-Planeta Rica road, at kilometer 26+150 of Route 2513, in the jurisdiction of Buenavista, Córdoba. Carlos Alberto Arcila Valencia, Medellín’s secretary for peace and human rights, confirmed that Carrizo had been found dead in Montería. Montería Mayor Hugo Kerguelén García later said the incident was a traffic accident recorded in Buenavista, Córdoba.
