Frightening fire at a hotel in Esenyurt: Citizens evacuated by ladder

A fire erupted in the laundry room of a four-story hotel in the Güzelyurt neighborhood of Esenyurt, Istanbul, shortly after 2:30 AM. The blaze quickly intensified as materials in the laundry area caught fire, sending thick smoke billowing through the building.

The fire started around 2:30 AM in the laundry section of the 4-story hotel on Fatih Street in Güzelyurt Mahallesi.

The smoke rapidly filled the stairwells and corridors, trapping hotel guests. Many residents found themselves unable to descend and were forced to seek safety by gathering on windowsills, balconies, and the hotel's terrace.

The materials in the laundry room caught fire, and the resulting blaze spread rapidly, with thick smoke quickly covering the stairwell and rooms.

Upon receiving an alert, emergency services, including multiple fire crews, police, and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters immediately began battling the flames while simultaneously working to evacuate the stranded guests. Those trapped on the terrace and in their rooms were systematically brought down to safety using ladders.

Hotel residents who noticed the situation could not go down because the corridors were filled with smoke and took refuge on windows, balconies, and the terrace.

One individual required medical attention and was treated in an ambulance for smoke inhalation. The fire was eventually brought under control and extinguished by the fire department after approximately one hour of intensive work. Following the completion of smoke clearance operations, hotel guests were permitted to return to their rooms. An investigation has been launched by the authorities to determine the cause of the fire.
