From Malaysian education to Tanzania’s corporate world

At 33, Isabella Victor Mwambalaswa is among Tanzania’s younger chief financial officers, having held the position for nearly two years at a company involved in logistics, infrastructure and energy.

Her career path began with an international education. She earned a first-class honours degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of England through a twinning programme with Taylor’s University in Malaysia. She also completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification in Malaysia.

More than a decade after returning to Tanzania, Mwambalaswa says the education and exposure she gained abroad have shaped her professional journey. She was employed soon after coming back to the country.

Her experience reflects a growing number of Tanzanians returning home with skills and knowledge acquired overseas. Mwambalaswa will be among the speakers at the upcoming CFO of the Future Summit at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam, where finance executives from across East Africa are expected to gather.
