From meteorologists - the latest forecast: When a storm might reach Lithuania

Lithuania is bracing for a day of unsettled weather on Thursday, with forecasters predicting short-term rain and thunderstorms across various parts of the country. The first wave of rain is expected before noon, with a second band moving in during the late afternoon or evening.

Thunderstorms are anticipated in many areas accompanying the rain. The southern regions of Lithuania are at the highest risk for heavy downpours, potentially leading to squalls with wind gusts reaching 15-20 meters per second. Hail is also possible in these areas. Despite the chance of storms, winds will generally be light, blowing from the southwest and west, and occasionally from the northwest when there is no rain.

Daytime temperatures on Thursday are expected to remain very warm, even hot in some places, with highs ranging from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius. However, the westernmost parts of the country will experience slightly cooler conditions, with temperatures reaching 23-26 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead to Friday, an atmospheric front is expected to move away, leading to a rise in atmospheric pressure. While cloud cover will be variable, some areas, particularly in the east, may see brief showers and lingering thunderstorms in the early night. A stronger west to southwest wind is predicted. The air mass moving into the country will be slightly cooler, but temperatures will remain typical for a Lithuanian summer, with daytime highs between 20-25 degrees Celsius. Saturday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies with occasional sunshine, and a chance of brief showers in some areas. Nighttime temperatures will range from 9-14 degrees Celsius, rising to 19-24 degrees Celsius during the day.
