From the meteorologist – a grim weather forecast: you'll have to dress warmer

Lithuania is set to experience a shift in weather patterns as a cooler and wetter period approaches, following a brief respite from an anticyclone system. Meteorologist E. Latvėnaitė forecasts that after Tuesday, an anticyclone system named Steffen III will cover Scandinavia, the Baltics, and Eastern and Southeastern Europe, bringing drier and calmer, though still cool, weather until Friday.

During Steffen III's presence, rain is expected to cease, but nights will remain cool and foggy, particularly in southern and eastern regions. Daytime temperatures will hover between 18-22°C, with the sun offering some warmth. However, by Friday, a more humid cyclone system will begin to expand near the Baltic Sea and Lithuania. Although Friday and Saturday nights may still be rain-free, a stronger southeasterly wind will pick up, bringing warmer air currents from the south.

The weekend and the beginning of the following week will see more frequent and heavier rainfall, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms, as the humid cyclone system influences Northern Europe and the Baltics. Despite the increased precipitation and a cooler breeze, significant storms are not anticipated. August is expected to bid farewell with "mushroom rain" and "mushroom warmth," indicating intermittent showers and mild temperatures. Nighttime temperatures are forecast to range from 8-16°C, while daytime highs will generally be between 16-24°C, with the warmest conditions expected in coastal and eastern areas.

Steffen III will reach us and stay until Friday. It will be without rain, cool and foggy at night, and the sun rising a little higher during the day will warm us up a bit more. From Friday, a more humid cyclone system will expand closer to the Baltic Sea and Lithuania. Although it will still be without rain on Friday and Saturday nights, a stronger southeasterly wind will blow, and warmer air currents from the south will reach us. Over the weekend and the beginning of next week, a more humid but weak cyclone system will cover Northern Europe and the Baltics. From Saturday daytime, we will experience more frequent and heavier rain, sometimes with thunderstorms, a slightly cooler wind will blow, but we do not expect major storms, it will still be quite warm. So August will say goodbye with mushroom rain and mushroom warmth.
