Frost warning issued for parts of Lithuania

Residents in parts of Lithuania are being warned of impending frost, with the national Hydrometeorological Service issuing an alert for Saturday morning.

The frost is expected to form on the ground surface overnight from Friday to Saturday. Temperatures could drop to between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius below freezing in the Šiauliai and Telšiai regions. The service advises citizens to protect sensitive outdoor plants by covering them with a suitable material before sunset.

The frost warning is in effect from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM on May 30. Looking ahead, Friday night is forecast to be mostly clear with little rain, and a northwesterly to westerly wind. Temperatures will range from 4 to 9 degrees Celsius. Friday daytime will see variable clouds with some brief showers and a westerly to northwesterly wind, with temperatures between 15-20 degrees Celsius, or 12-14 on the Curonian Spit.

Saturday is expected to have no significant rain, with light winds and temperatures ranging from 3-8 degrees Celsius overnight, and 17-22 degrees Celsius during the day (13-15 on the Curonian Spit). Sunday may bring brief showers in places and thunderstorms during the day, with temperatures similar to Saturday.
