Fuel prices surge in Poland, diesel nears 8 zloty per liter

Fuel prices across Poland are showing no signs of abating, with significant increases reported for gasoline and diesel in recent weeks. The average price for Pb95 gasoline has climbed to 7.44 Polish zloty (PLN) per liter, a 15 groszy increase from the previous week. Pb98 gasoline is selling for an average of 8.25 PLN per liter.

Diesel prices have seen a more substantial jump, rising by 35 groszy to reach 7.99 PLN per liter, hovering just below the 8 PLN mark. This surge has prompted concerns among consumers and industry watchers. Analysts had warned of a potential "black scenario" where diesel prices could exceed 8 PLN, but for now, the average remains just under that threshold.

In contrast, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has seen a slight decrease, falling by 4 groszy to 3.05 PLN per liter. However, experts caution that this downward trend might reverse in early August, suggesting that relief at the pump may be temporary.

Price variations are noticeable across different regions of Poland. The Łódzkie voivodeship currently offers the lowest average price for Pb95 gasoline at 7.35 PLN per liter. Conversely, the Mazowieckie voivodeship faces the highest average price for the same fuel, at 7.49 PLN per liter. Similar regional differences apply to diesel, with the lowest prices found in several voivodeships including Lubelskie, Lubuskie, Opolskie, Podlaskie, and Warmińsko-Mazurskie at 7.92 PLN, while Podkarpacie records the highest at 7.99 PLN.
