Fugitive Wanted for Fraud and Forgery Arrested in Vietnam After Evading Capture

Authorities in Vietnam's Quang Tri province have successfully apprehended Đoàn Thị Thơ, a woman who was the subject of a special wanted notice for serious offenses including fraud and the use of forged documents. Thơ, aged 34, had been evading law enforcement since May 2025 after committing crimes in Dong Ha city.

Recognizing the severity of her alleged crimes and the anticipated difficulty in her capture, the Investigation Police Agency of the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department established a special task force to pursue her. The investigation involved extensive efforts to trace Thơ's whereabouts across various regions in central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

During her time on the run, Thơ reportedly employed tactics to conceal her identity, frequently relocating and adopting different professions. These actions significantly complicated the efforts of the investigative team tasked with her capture.

Despite these challenges, the task force utilized specialized investigative methods and, on June 18, 2026, located and arrested Thơ. She was found hiding in Hoai Duc commune, Lam Dong province. The case is now proceeding through the legal system for further xử lý.
