Full list: Badejo-Okusanya, others emerge winners in 2026 NBA elections

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has been elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). She emerged victorious in a closely contested presidential election, defeating two other senior lawyers. Badejo-Okusanya garnered 12,317 votes, representing 47.18% of the total votes cast, surpassing her closest rival, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who received 7,934 votes (30.39%). Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, finished third with 5,855 votes (22.43%).

With this victory, Badejo-Okusanya is set to serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028. Her election marks a significant milestone as she becomes only the second woman to lead the NBA, following in the footsteps of Priscilla Kuye, who served from 1991 to 1992. The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) announced the results on Sunday, confirming the outcomes for various national positions.

The election saw a participation rate of 31.86%, with 26,184 out of the NBA's 82,172 registered voters casting their ballots. The results published on the ECNBA portal included the winners for First Vice-President (Chief Oghenero Okoro), Second Vice-President (Egya Nuhu John, unopposed), Third Vice-President (Pepple Iniobong Irene, unopposed), General Secretary (Afam O. Okeke), Assistant General Secretary (Aghogho Gladys Okpomor), Treasurer (Esther Ifeoma Jimoh, unopposed), Welfare Secretary (Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam), and Publicity Secretary (Dr. Prince I. Azubuike).
