Funvisis registers 1,445 aftershocks following June 24 double earthquake

The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis) has documented a substantial number of seismic events following the significant earthquakes that occurred on June 24. Over a period of 648 hours of uninterrupted monitoring, from June 24 to July 21, the foundation registered a total of 1,445 seismic events.

Funvisis reported that the majority of these detected movements were of low intensity, with magnitudes generally below 4.0. A smaller proportion of the registered events reached magnitudes higher than this range. This data provides insight into the seismic recovery process after major geological disturbances.

The institution continues its active surveillance of national seismic activity. This follows the main seismic events of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24, which caused damage in several parts of Venezuela. Funvisis regularly updates on new, low-magnitude tremors in various regions, including Zulia, Sucre, Aragua, and Falcón, as specialists evaluate the ongoing seismic behavior.
