Ga Mantse backs GMTF • Urges more investment in medical research

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) is spearheading the development of two advanced cardiology centers, poised to significantly enhance medical services in Ghana. Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the GMTF, confirmed that the facilities at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi and the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) are on track for completion by November.

Funded by the GMTF, these state-of-the-art centers are designed to expand access to critical cardiac care. The initiative addresses a pressing need for specialized medical infrastructure, aiming to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases, which are a major health concern in the region. The project signifies a substantial investment in Ghana's healthcare sector.

Darko-Opoku's assurance highlights the trust's commitment to timely project delivery and its strategic vision for improving healthcare outcomes. The completion of these cardiology centers is anticipated to not only serve patients in the Ashanti and Northern regions but also potentially serve as referral hubs for other parts of the country, marking a significant step forward in Ghana's medical capabilities.
