Gaitanes to Carry Panama's Flag to First Billboard Salsa Music Week in Colombia

Panamanian musical brothers Alberto and Ricardo Gaitán, known as Gaitanes, have been invited to participate in the first-ever Billboard Salsa Music Week in Cali, Colombia. The event, scheduled from September 15 to 19, 2026, will gather prominent figures in the salsa genre from around the world.

The invitation recognizes Gaitanes' extensive career as performers, composers, and producers. It also presents an opportunity for Panama to showcase its vibrant salsa identity and its significant contributions to one of Latin America's most influential musical genres. Cali, widely considered a global capital of salsa, will host a five-day program featuring artists, musicians, composers, producers, dancers, academics, industry executives, media, and fans. The event will include panels, training sessions, professional networking opportunities, showcases, and live performances focused on the present and future of salsa.

Beyond performing their music, Gaitanes will introduce "Nuestra Calle Latina," a cultural initiative they founded. This project aims to re-engage the public with salsa by integrating music, dance, and popular culture. It seeks to bridge the legacy of the genre with new generations, fostering spaces where salsa returns to the streets as a shared collective experience.
