Deportivo Garcilaso has surged to the top of the Peruvian football league's Clausura tournament, seizing sole leadership after a decisive 2-0 win against CD Moquegua. The victory, sealed by goals from Beto da Silva and Francisco Arancibia, propelled the Cusco-based team to 9 points after the fourth round of the season.

This crucial win allowed Garcilaso to capitalize on the stumbles of their rivals. Alianza Lima, previously vying for the top spot, slipped to second place with 8 points after a 1-1 draw against Sport Boys. Melgar suffered a surprising 2-4 defeat at home to FC Cajamarca, causing them to drop to sixth place with 7 points.
