Gas Explosion Victim Dies from Injuries in Sidi Thabet, Tunisia

A woman in Sidi Thabet, Tunisia, has succumbed to her injuries following a severe gas explosion that ravaged her home last week. Her daughter, Mouna Guizani, confirmed her death, stating the victim suffered third-degree burns across her entire body.

The explosion occurred in the El Gouazine neighborhood of Sidi Thabet, within the Tunis governorate. It caused significant material damage and the collapse of a substantial portion of the residential building. Several occupants were injured.

The victim's son, who has a disability, sustained second-degree burns on his legs. Her grandson also suffered second-degree burns to his face, hands, and legs.

Initial findings suggest the blast resulted from a slow leak of domestic gas that accumulated in a closed room. An electrical spark, possibly from opening the refrigerator door, may have ignited the gas. However, official investigations are underway to establish the precise cause of the accident.
