Gašić: Arms procurements from China enhance Serbian Army capabilities

Serbia's Minister of Defense, Bratislava Gašić, asserted that recent acquisitions of weapons and military equipment from China are significantly boosting the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. Gašić made these remarks during a meeting with Guo Hongtao, the deputy chief of the International Military Cooperation Office of China's Central Military Commission.

Guo Hongtao, who co-chairs the second session of the Subcommittee for Military Cooperation between the two countries, emphasized China's high regard for its traditionally friendly relations with Serbia. He confirmed China's readiness to continue and intensify cooperation in the defense sector, particularly in areas of mutual interest. Gašić expressed satisfaction with the subcommittee's work and noted that the third session, focusing on military equipment and technology cooperation, is scheduled to take place by the end of the year.

Both ministers highlighted the successful and planned progress of their substantive bilateral cooperation. Gašić specifically pointed out that the personal relationship between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Chinese President Xi Jinping adds a special dimension to their traditionally friendly ties and provides impetus for defense collaboration. The Serbian minister also conveyed gratitude for China's international support regarding Kosovo and Metohija, a matter of utmost national importance for Serbia. In return, Serbia will continue to support the "One China" principle.
