Gatot Subroto Road Near DPR Closed for August 27 Protest

Jakarta police have closed Gatot Subroto Road leading to Slipi as demonstrators prepare to gather in front of the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, August 27. The road closure is in effect under the Senayan Fly Over, with traffic being rerouted via Jalan Gerbang Pemuda.

As of Thursday morning, protesters have started to arrive at the location. Reports indicate that mobile phone signals in the vicinity of the DPR building have been disrupted. This comes as the United Pati Community Alliance (AMPB) and other groups announced their intention to hold a peaceful demonstration focused on two key demands.

To manage the situation, Jakarta Metro Police have deployed 18,504 personnel across the capital. Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Reynold E.P. Hutagalung emphasized a humanistic approach to security, stating that officers would not carry firearms or sharp weapons.
