General Be Xuan Truong re-elected Chairman of Vietnam Veterans Association

General Be Xuan Truong secured a unanimous re-election as Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, retaining his leadership for the 2026-2031 term. The election, held at the 8th National Congress in Hanoi, saw Truong receive 100% of the vote from the newly elected Central Committee members.

During the congress, 88 committee members were introduced for the new term. Alongside Truong, the re-elected vice chairmen include Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, General Pham Hong Huong, Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang, and Mr. Le Van Kiem. This continuity in leadership signals a focus on maintaining the association's established direction.

Accepting his role, Truong acknowledged the honor and significant responsibility entrusted to the Central Committee. He emphasized the need for continuous self-improvement, learning, and skill development among the new members to meet the demands of their nhiệm vụ and achieve the congress's objectives. He pledged that the committee would operate with unity, adhere to principles of democratic centralism, and engage in criticism and self-criticism to foster innovation in leadership and operations.

Truong also highlighted the congress's political significance in evaluating past achievements and shortcomings, drawing valuable lessons, and setting the course for the eighth term. He stressed the importance of amending the association's charter to align with current conditions and electing a capable leadership. The success of the congress, he stated, not only sets future directions but also serves as a powerful motivator, reinforcing the Vietnam Veterans Association's role as a political core and a steadfast defense of the Party, State, and people.
