George Simion reacts after Bolojan admits meeting him

George Simion, leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), reacted to interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's acknowledgment of having met with him. Bolojan had stated that these encounters were general discussions about perspectives, not political negotiations, and that they took place prior to the government's investiture vote. Bolojan emphasized maintaining civilized relations with political figures who represent voters.

I think this year I met Mr. Simion, I think twice. In the conditions where, at the parliamentary level, at the human level, people want to talk to you, they have votes behind them, they represent categories of citizens who voted, I tried not to offend people and to have a civilized relationship.

However, PSD President Sorin Grindeanu sharply criticized Bolojan, accusing him of secretly negotiating with AUR. Grindeanu alleged that Bolojan, whom he referred to as "pro-European Bolojan," secured his position through "non-transparent agreements" with Simion, whom Grindeanu previously labeled an "extremist." Grindeanu questioned Bolojan's integrity, suggesting he compromised his principles to remain in power.

Simion, in his response, stated that he had publicly shared his views and engaged in discussions with various political leaders. He remarked that it was not his concern whether some individuals were transparent about these meetings while others were not. Simion reiterated that the focus should be on forming a stable government for four years, suggesting that the previous coalition was incapable of doing so and that elections were the solution.
