Ghana Government Releases Over GHS 76 Million for Black Stars World Cup Campaign

The Ghanaian government has authorized the release of over 76 million Ghana Cedis (approximately $5 million USD) to support the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars, in their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The financial commitment is split into two main disbursements. An advance of nearly 59 million Ghana Cedis (GHS 58,929,500.00) will facilitate preparations and cover costs for the group stages of the tournament. This funding highlights the government's dedication to equipping the team for top-level competition.

Additionally, over 17.5 million Ghana Cedis (GHS 17,537,419.20) has been released to settle outstanding bonuses owed to the players. These payments fulfill a performance-based agreement from the qualifying series, where the team received 50% of their bonuses upon qualification, with the remainder contingent on reaching the tournament.
