Ghana Medical Trust Fund briefs Otumfuo on progress and vision for expanding specialised healthcare

Ghana's health sector is undergoing significant reforms aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving national health outcomes. Key stakeholders, including the Minister of Health and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) leadership, recently met with His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace to provide an update on these developments.

The delegation briefed the Asantehene on the substantial progress made by the GMTF since its inception. A primary focus was the fund's vision for expanding access to specialized healthcare, particularly for Ghanaians living with chronic non-communicable diseases. The GMTF aims to alleviate the financial burden on individuals requiring specialized treatment, ensuring that no Ghanaian is denied life-saving care due to financial constraints.

During the engagement, the leadership outlined the Trust Fund's mandate, highlighted key milestones achieved, and discussed ongoing efforts to ease the financial strain on patients. The meeting underscored the critical role of traditional leadership, like that of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in advancing national development and fostering public awareness.

The GMTF's strategy involves building partnerships with influential institutions to drive national awareness and ensure broader access to its services.
