Ghana's Asogli Te Za yam festival launched with cultural fanfare

Ho, Ghana – The vibrant Asogli Te Za yam festival for 2026 has officially launched in Ho, marking the beginning of a celebration focused on national development through unity and investment. The launch ceremony was a spectacle of cultural performances and fireworks, drawing a large crowd.

This year's festival, themed "United in purpose, investing in people and infrastructure for sustainable national development," aims to harness the region's strengths. Ho Municipal Chief Executive Stephen Adom praised the Asogli people for their enduring peace and unity, urging them to translate these values into tangible development. He also called on the youth to respect traditional leadership and uphold the good image of Asogli.

The festival's climax is scheduled for October 3 at the Jubilee Park in Ho. Leading up to this, a series of diverse events will take place, including a Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day, an Auto Show, the Asogli Marathon, health screenings, an Anti-Corruption Forum, and a Choral Music Day. Additionally, the Volta Economic Forum will convene, alongside traditional events like the "Hailing of the New Yam" carnival, a Borborbor fair, a summit of Ewe chiefs from Ghana, Togo, and Benin, and a lawn tennis competition.

It also functions as an annual reaffirmation of allegiance to the Agbogbomefia by all chiefs and subjects within the Asogli State, reinforcing unity and mobilizing resources for economic growth.
