Ghana Secures China Deal to Develop Volta Economic Corridor

Ghana is embarking on a transformative journey with the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Accra between the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat and China's Hunan Architectural Design Institute Group (HADI Group). This landmark agreement is poised to unlock significant economic potential by focusing on the development of the Volta Economic Corridor (VEC). The initiative promises to generate a substantial 500,000 direct jobs, a testament to Ghana's commitment to job creation and economic empowerment for its citizens.

The partnership will facilitate technical training and knowledge exchange, equipping Ghanaian professionals with the expertise needed to manage and sustain these advanced facilities. The HADI Group's proven track record in transforming regions like Hunan into global hubs for engineering and construction makes them an ideal partner for Ghana's ambitious development agenda.

Seeing the vision reflected here gives us confidence that this collaboration is built on a strong and practical foundation.” This sentiment was echoed by Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Presidential Adviser, who recalled the fruitful discussions in Changsha, China, that laid the groundwork for this agreement. He stressed the practical nature of the collaboration, noting, “The institution helped plan the infrastructure that built modern Hunan. We are asking them to bring that same capability to Ghana. The work starts now.”
