Ghana urged to promote culture globally as HAPAwards prepares 10th anniversary celebration

Ghana needs to intensify its promotion of culture and traditions on the global stage to foster international understanding and appreciation of its rich heritage, according to Adeola Odunowo, Executive Producer and African Representative of the Hollywood and Africa Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards).

Odunowo highlighted Ghana's abundant talent in the creative industry, emphasizing the need for international showcasing to create opportunities for young artists. "It’s not enough to have talents in Nigeria or Ghana. We are living in an information age now and we believe that there is a whole lot of opportunities for local talents to shine at the global stage and that’s what our platform provides," he stated.

The HAPAwards will celebrate its 10th anniversary from October 7 to 9 in Kumasi, Ghana. The event, themed 'The Road to HAPA,' is designed as a travel-style initiative to bring the awards celebration to different parts of the world before the main event in Los Angeles. Twenty-five individuals will be honored for their societal contributions, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who will receive an award for promoting diaspora relations.

Activities during the three-day celebration include an African showcase titled 'The Journey of an Ashanti Man,' a Creators Night celebrating talents from Hollywood and Africa, and a Kings Night. HAPAwards Founder Tina Weisinger described the awards as a platform for celebrating the connection between Africa, Hollywood, and the global community, fostering recognition, collaboration, cultural exchange, and economic engagement. She noted that the African creator economy represents one of the most exciting opportunities of the generation.
