Police in Gia Lai province have arrested two women, Trần Nguyễn Như Phượng, 56, and Phạm Thị Minh Thu, 53, on charges of inciting public disorder. The arrests are connected to ongoing protests that have disrupted legal sand mining operations on the Kim Son River.

The situation of security and order in the area of An Tuong commune has recently seen a public disorder incident related to sand mining activities on the Kim Son River.

Authorities reported that a group of residents from Ân Hữu village had been gathering to obstruct the sand mining activities of a local enterprise. The situation escalated with some individuals engaging in excessive behavior, creating potential security risks and impacting the business and local governance.

Some residents of An Huu village frequently gathered in large numbers, obstructing the legal sand mining activities of an enterprise on the Kim Son River.

Since July 17, when the enterprise began its operations and emergency repairs along the riverbank, residents have been monitoring, setting up tents, and blocking the company's work. The Provincial Police's investigation identified Phượng and Thu as playing active roles in inciting these disturbances.
