Gibran Rides Motorcycle Himself During Visit to Agats, Cheered as 'Young Jokowi'

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka took the handlebars of an electric motorcycle himself during a working visit to Agats, Asmat, in South Papua on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

After arriving in Agats, Gibran mounted a provided electric motorcycle. He rode it alone, without a Paspampres (presidential security detail) member as a passenger, though security personnel followed closely behind.

Gibran, the eldest son of President Jokowi, appeared relaxed as he navigated the blue motorcycle, wearing a black helmet. He rode at a considerable speed, at one point overtaking the security personnel escorting him.

The sight of the Vice President riding solo generated enthusiastic cheers from local residents. Many captured the moment, with one resident, Christian, remarking, "Yes, it was extraordinary, like Mr. Jokowi back then when he came here, but younger."
