Girl, 13, missing after being swept away by floodwaters in Da Lat

A 13-year-old girl has gone missing after being swept away by a flash flood in Lang Biang ward, Da Lat city, on the afternoon of May 24. The incident occurred during a period of prolonged heavy rainfall that caused streams to swell rapidly.

The girl was crossing a bridge over a stream in the Bon Nơr B neighborhood when she lost her footing and was carried away by the strong current. Local authorities, including the military command, militia, police, and residents, immediately launched a search operation along the stream, extending towards Dan Kia – Suoi Vang lake.

Rescue efforts were hampered by the high, fast-moving water and the onset of darkness. As of 9 p.m., the girl had not been found. Search teams and her family continue to look for her.

This incident highlights the ongoing threat of heavy rains in the Lang Biang ward and the wider Da Lat area. Since early May, continuous downpours have led to flooding in agricultural areas and increased the risk of landslides on local roads.
