Girondins de Bordeaux president faces crucial FFF meeting for club's survival

The future of the historic French football club Girondins de Bordeaux hangs precariously in the balance as it faces a critical hearing before the French Football Federation (FFF) on Thursday. The club is on the verge of judicial liquidation, making this meeting a potential last chance for survival.

Despite the looming threat, a glimmer of hope emerged Tuesday when the commercial court approved a conciliation agreement linked to a takeover project. This judicial validation confirms the club's sound financial standing and its capacity to manage operations for the upcoming three seasons. President Dominique Delport stated that the club has approximately 10.6 million euros in escrow and another 10 million euros with JB Morgan, ensuring its financial stability.

The commercial court has now formally requested the FFF's Executive Committee to re-examine the possibility of reinstating Girondins de Bordeaux into National 1, the fourth tier of French football. This plea comes after the club was relegated two levels below its current standing. The outcome of the FFF's decision will be pivotal in determining whether the club can continue to compete nationally.
