Gittens-Spotsville Wins Long Jump Gold in Berlin

Tyra Gittens-Spotsville continued her best stretch of long-jump consistency with a 6.79-metre leap that secured gold at the ISTAF 2026 meet in Berlin.

The Trinidad and Tobago athlete opened with 6.43 metres, then moved into control with a 6.74-metre jump. After a 6.32-metre effort, she produced the winning mark in the fourth round. She followed with 6.70 metres before fouling her final attempt.

Marthe Koala of Burkina Faso took silver at 6.71 metres, and Serbia’s Milica Gardasevic won bronze with 6.60. Gittens-Spotsville’s winning mark ranks as the fourth-best legal jump of her career. Her national record stands at 6.96 metres, set in 2021.

She also holds the national indoor record after jumping 6.83 metres on January 30. Her third-best mark is 6.80 metres, recorded on June 14. The 2026 season has produced five of her 10 best legal performances, including jumps of 6.76 metres in May and 6.73 in February.

Gittens-Spotsville has also competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun this year. She placed fifth in the Commonwealth Games final with a wind-assisted 6.74 metres, alongside a wind-legal 6.63. At the World Indoors, she jumped 6.32 metres for 15th place.
