Glamping convoy navigates challenging routes to Malaysia's Cameron Highlands

A convoy of 25 BMW motorcycles and 10 Mini cars recently experienced a unique glamping adventure in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands. The journey, organized by Auto Bavaria Ara Damansara, was designed for couples and families, covering approximately 250 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur.

The drive presented its own set of challenges, particularly the 80-kilometer stretch of the Ringlet-Sungai Koyan route. This road is characterized by over 100 sharp turns, steep ascents, and descents, requiring careful navigation. Participants noted that while their R nine T motorcycles were the smallest in the convoy, their performance was impressive.

Sungai Koyan, located in Lipis, Pahang, is a region steeped in history, known for its gold mining heritage and Felda land schemes. Local legends attribute the name "Sungai Koyan" to various origins, including a discovery of "koyan" (a unit of weight) of gold, a lost Perak royalty, or an Orang Asli word for "ghost."

The convoy's journey from Kuala Lumpur was met with cool, rainy weather upon arrival in Cameron Highlands. After breakfast and a safety briefing at the Auto Bavaria showroom, the group encountered increasing traffic near Genting Sempah. They stopped for lunch at Hotel De’La Fern before heading to their accommodation, Stellar Glampsite, a unique caravan-themed resort on Bukit Golden. Despite the rain canceling some planned activities, participants ventured to a nearby night market, sampling local specialties like sweet corn and the unusual white strawberries.
