Golf: Hsu Wei-ling ties for 6th at British Open, surges in world rankings to reclaim Taiwan No. 1

Taiwanese professional golfer Hsu Wei-ling has reclaimed the title of Taiwan's top female golfer after securing a tie for sixth place at the Women's British Open. Her strong performance in the final round, where she shot a 69, brought her total score to 283, earning her $247,127 in prize money.

This latest success follows her tie for third place at the Meijer LPGA Classic in June, demonstrating a consistent level of high performance. The Women's British Open, being the last major championship of the season, significantly boosted Hsu's world ranking points, propelling her to 82nd place. This places her ahead of Japanese golfer Wu Jia-yan, who is ranked 93rd.

Other Taiwanese golfers also competed, with Yani Tseng ranked 203rd and Lu Hsia-ling at 223rd. Chien Pei-yun's ranking has dropped to 224th due to an injury layoff, while Tsai Pei-ying is ranked 228th.

The top five positions in the world rankings remain unchanged. American Nelly Korda continues to hold the top spot, followed by Thailand's Atthaya Thitikul in second place. South Korea's Ryu Hae-ran is third, with Kim Hyo-joo and England's Lottie Woad rounding out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
