Gombe State Recognized Nationally for Excellence in Governance

Gombe State has once again earned national acclaim for its governance and public service delivery, securing a spot among Nigeria's top-performing subnational governments in the 2026 PCL State Performance Index (pSPI). This independent assessment highlights the state's significant progress under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The report ranked Gombe 6th nationally on the Momentum Index and achieved an impressive 4th overall position in citizen satisfaction, scoring 3.47 out of 5. This high rating reflects a growing public trust in the administration's policies and programs. Furthermore, Gombe was recognized as Nigeria's best-performing state in road infrastructure and ranked among the country's leaders in healthcare delivery, security, and environmental cleanliness.

The assessment described Gombe as a rapidly growing commercial hub, attributing its success to a business-friendly environment, prudent fiscal management, and sustained investments in critical infrastructure. Key performance indicators that received high ratings included road infrastructure (4.50/5), environmental cleanliness (4.10/5), and security (4.00/5), demonstrating the tangible impact of the administration's development-focused agenda.

Notably, the report highlighted Gombe's strong momentum, driven by consistent infrastructure investment. The state boasts the highest citizen ratings for roads nationwide and maintains one of the strongest capital investment ratios, with a 69 percent capital expenditure ratio. This commitment underscores its focus on development-oriented spending and long-term economic growth. Regionally, Gombe is identified as a key driver of positive development in the North-east, with its investments significantly boosting public confidence and improving development outcomes.
