Google to open new office building in Dublin

Google is set to open a new office building in Dublin's Docklands, named "The Bakery." Located on Grand Canal Street, the site has historical significance, originally housing the City of Dublin Bakery founded in 1874 and later serving as headquarters for government bodies like the NTMA and NAMA.

The new building, which Google acquired in 2020 for €120 million, will have the capacity for up to 1,900 employees. The first staff members are expected to move in by late next year. This development follows Google's 2018 acquisition and subsequent redevelopment of the nearby Boland's Mills into a mixed-use space.

"The Bakery" will add 325,000 square feet to Google's existing presence in Ireland and will include a dedicated events hub. Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, emphasized the company's two-decade presence in Ireland and its commitment to innovation.

"Ireland has been home to Google's European headquarters for more than 20 years and, with the opening of The Bakery, we are delighted to celebrate our decades of investment and our enduring commitment to ensure Ireland can both drive and benefit from the opportunities of this era of innovation," Porat stated. The company currently employs around 6,000 people in Ireland. A report by Implement Consulting Group estimates Google contributed over €10 billion to Ireland's GDP in 2025 and supported more than 18,000 jobs.
