Goran Ivanišević Recounts Falling for Wife Nives: 'I Was Stunned Like a Calf'

Croatian tennis legend Goran Ivanišević, 54, has shared intimate details about the beginning of his relationship with his wife, Nives, 44. The couple, who recently collaborated on Ivanišević's 'Tennis Summer by Goran Ivanišević' camp in Split, revealed how they met a decade ago through a mutual friend.

"Ten years ago, our friend Ivan Vukušić introduced us," Goran recounted. "He worked at the radio. I went to visit him and brought some snacks and sandwiches because I heard someone was hungry. When I saw Nives, I was stunned. I stood there like a calf. And little by little..." he added, describing his immediate infatuation.

Nives Ivanišević spoke warmly of her husband's character, highlighting his dedication to his work, particularly the tennis camp and the children involved. "His dedication to everything he does... makes me fall in love with him again," she said. She also praised his sense of humor and natural talent for public speaking, noting that he often delivers speeches without preparation. "He's charming and has a comedic talent. At home, ninety percent of the time, we're dying of laughter," Nives shared.

The couple's romance initially unfolded away from the public eye, with speculation beginning in late 2016 when Ivanišević was frequently seen in Nives's neighborhood. They kept their relationship private, with early hints appearing on social media. Their engagement was signaled by a ring on Nives's hand during a New Year's celebration in Doha.

They eventually married in a private ceremony in December 2017, surrounded by close family and godparents, just before Goran's business trip to Australia. The news of their marriage was confirmed indirectly on Christmas Day when Nives posted song lyrics on Instagram, subtly announcing their union. Goran has a daughter, Amber Marija, and a son, Emanuel, from his previous marriage, and a son, Oliver, with Nives.
