Gov Abiodun charges NYSC members on patriotism, security, electoral integrity

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has called on the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to embody patriotism, discipline, and security awareness as they begin their year of national service. Governor Abiodun formally opened the orientation course at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu.

Represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Wasiu Isiaka, the governor congratulated the corps members on completing their academic programs and being mobilized for service. He described the event as a significant milestone, acknowledging their hard work and perseverance. Governor Abiodun praised the NYSC for sustaining the scheme for over five decades, recognizing it as a vital platform for national integration, youth development, and nation-building in Nigeria.

Addressing the corps members, Governor Abiodun noted that their deployment occurs at a critical juncture in Nigeria's development. He urged them to leverage their knowledge, creativity, and innovative ideas to contribute to a more prosperous, peaceful, and united nation. The governor stated that the orientation program is designed to equip them with essential skills, including leadership, citizenship, entrepreneurship, teamwork, security awareness, and community development, encouraging active participation in all camp activities.

Governor Abiodun reiterated his administration's dedication to youth empowerment through its "Building Our Future Together" agenda. He pointed to initiatives like the Ogun State Job Portal, support for MSMEs, the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone, the Gateway International Airport and Aerotropolis Project, and digital innovation under Ogun TechHub as key interventions aimed at creating opportunities for young people. He also stressed the importance of security consciousness throughout their service year, warning against actions that could attract criminal elements, such as lending phones, allowing unauthorized bank transactions, or accepting rides from strangers.
