Government Announces 1 Billion Boliviano Investment in Paving Projects to Generate 100,000 Jobs

Bolivia's government has launched a significant infrastructure initiative, pledging an investment of 1 billion bolivianos (approximately $92.7 million) to pave streets and avenues in 300 municipalities nationwide. The "National Emergency Program for Employment Generation – Phase II" is designed not only to improve urban living conditions but also to stimulate the economy by creating jobs.

The project aims to cover more than 1 million square meters of roads, including all 14 districts of El Alto city. Officials anticipate that this endeavor will generate at least 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. President Luis Arce highlighted that the program will enhance the quality of life for over a million Bolivians by providing accessible and improved roadways.

This program will generate more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, meaning that not only will we, I reiterate, provide quality of life to the population, but we will also generate an impact on more than 1 million Bolivians in their sphere of life.

The initiative received approval from the Plurinational Legislative Assembly after being submitted by the Executive branch. The program's importance was underscored by the presence of local representatives, including council members from various municipalities in La Paz, such as Charazani, Laja, Collana, Tiquina, Apolo, Sorata, and Guanay.

Blas Rozada, the Country Coordinator for Bolivia at Fonplata (the Development Bank), emphasized that integration and connectivity are crucial for improving lives, fostering community development, and driving economic activity. He stated that Fonplata's investment should translate into tangible opportunities for the population, aligning with the mission of a development bank.

Rozada further explained that a lack of connectivity hinders opportunities, quality of life, social inclusion, economic activity, and job creation. Fonplata has previously supported urban infrastructure development programs in 280 Bolivian municipalities, indicating a sustained commitment to the country's development.
