Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has filed a report with the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) against two witnesses who testified during a special committee hearing of the Gowa Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD).

The witnesses, identified by the initials ZA and AH, are accused of defamation and providing false testimony that allegedly damaged the Regent's reputation. Husniah stated that her report, filed on Friday, includes evidence that she presented to the National Police. She claims this action is necessary to protect the good name of the regional government and her dignity as a leader, ensuring the matter does not disrupt the administration in Gowa Regency.

One of the accused witnesses, ZA, stated that they respect the legal process and will provide testimony if required. ZA explained that their statements were based solely on the materials presented during the hearing and denied defaming the Regent. "Whether there is a police report or not is not an issue. What is clear is that we will follow the ongoing legal process," ZA said. The other witness, AH, has not yet provided a comment.

The DPRD Gowa formed the special committee in June 2026 to investigate three main issues concerning Regent Husniah's policies and personal life. These include allegations of abuse of power related to the revocation of a doctoral scholarship for a student named Rizqila, reportedly due to personal reasons. The committee is also examining alleged irregularities in the procurement of free school uniforms within the Education Office and investigating claims of an affair between Husniah and an individual identified as BK. Husniah has denied all accusations and rejected the investigation into her personal life, arguing that the DPRD committee has strayed too far into private matters unrelated to policy.
