Greece braces for storms in the north and heat up to 43°C in the east

Greece's National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued a new urgent bulletin forecasting severe weather across the country. Residents in Macedonia and Thrace should prepare for storms, while eastern mainland Greece braces for extreme heat, with temperatures potentially soaring to 43°C.

The forecast indicates that northern continental areas will experience localized heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. These storms may be accompanied by strong winds, frequent lightning, and a possibility of hail. The adverse weather is expected to begin in the afternoon in Macedonia and gradually spread to Thrace, with an anticipated weakening of phenomena late in the evening.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country will face intense heat. The highest temperatures are predicted for Thessaly, eastern Sterea, and eastern Peloponnese. Thessaly could see maximum temperatures of 41-42°C, with isolated areas reaching 43°C. Eastern Sterea, including Athens, is forecast to reach 39-41°C, while eastern Peloponnese could experience highs of 41-42°C. The EMY's updated bulletin reflects the latest predictive data, highlighting the dual threat of severe storms and dangerous heat.
