Greece: Kite surfer lands on rooftop after accident in Heraklion

A 38-year-old French tourist sustained serious injuries following a kite surfing accident in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete. The incident occurred while she was engaged in the sport, and the exact circumstances are currently under investigation.

According to local reports, the woman was riding her kite surf when strong winds reportedly caused her to lose control. She was allegedly thrown against a wall before the wind lifted her again, ultimately causing her to land on the rooftop of a building. Emergency services were immediately mobilized.

A mobile unit from the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) transported the injured woman to Venizeleio Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for her severe injuries. The Heraklion Port Authority has taken charge of the preliminary investigation into the accident, aiming to determine the precise conditions under which it occurred.
