Greece restructures tax services in Thessaloniki, introducing new digital and physical centers

The Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is set to overhaul its tax services in Thessaloniki, introducing new operational centers and consolidating existing offices starting July 27, 2026. This significant restructuring aims to enhance efficiency and modernize the taxpayer experience.

The new Tax Procedure and Service Center (KEFODE) for Thessaloniki, located at Ethnikis Antaseos 33 & Plutarchou, Kalamaria, will begin operations on July 27. Initially, it will absorb responsibilities from the Compliance and Taxpayer Relations departments and the Registry of tax offices in Kalamaria, Ionia Thessaloniki, Lagkadas, and FAΕ Thessaloniki. A further consolidation will occur on September 1, 2026, transferring responsibilities and taxpayers from the E', D', Z' Thessaloniki tax offices and Ampelokipoi tax office.

A key addition is a new department dedicated to the application of alternative taxation provisions for natural persons. This unit will handle new applications from individuals relocating their tax residency to Greece. Its jurisdiction covers the entire country, excluding Attica and specific islands in the South Aegean region, which remain under the purview of the KEFODE Attica.

Taxpayers can access services digitally through the 'My Requests' and 'My Appointments' applications on the myAADE portal or the myAADEapp. Additionally, the AADE Taxpayer Service Center offers phone support at 1521, free of charge, from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and 24/7 digital access via the my1521 platform.

Several tax offices will be renamed and relocated as part of the reform. For instance, Kalamaria Tax Office becomes the 20th Tax Service Office, Ionia Thessaloniki Tax Office becomes the 22nd, and Lagkadas Tax Office becomes the 23rd. The FAΕ Thessaloniki Tax Office will cease operations. The D' Thessaloniki and E' Thessaloniki tax offices will be merged, with the E' Thessaloniki Tax Office becoming the 18th Tax Service Office. The Z' Thessaloniki Tax Office will be renamed the 19th Tax Service Office, and the Ampelokipoi Tax Office will become the 21st Tax Service Office.
