Greece: SYRIZA forms nine-member Electoral Committee for national election preparations

The Greek political party SYRIZA has completed its organizational restructuring by forming an Electoral Committee composed of nine members. This move, unanimously approved by the Political Secretariat, signifies a commitment to collective leadership as the party prepares for upcoming national elections.

The newly formed committee includes key figures such as Anastasia Gara (Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee), Rena Dourou (President of the Parliamentary Group), and Nikos Pappas (Secretary of the Central Committee). Other members are tasked with specific areas like Political Planning, Press Representation, Strategic Planning, and Human Resources.

A statement from the Central Committee emphasized that establishing a collective leadership until the national elections is a "conscious political choice." This approach aims to practically embody collectivity in decision-making, leverage the party's extensive personnel, and ensure the next phase is built on consensus, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

The committee's mandate extends beyond electoral planning to encompass organizing the party's outreach, highlighting its platform, and formulating a broad strategy for political engagement across Greece. A primary focus will be the immediate process of forming candidate lists, which SYRIZA states will reflect a strategy of renewal, social representation, and the mobilization of the country's creative forces.
